Cable Requirements

Cat 5 cable required to link all workstations with server
Cat 6 cables are now available and should be used for new installations

Notes:

  • We REQUIRE EXTERNAL US Robotics for full electronic compatibility with our own modems (better / faster connections)
  • Internal modems require complete clinic shutdowns to reset. This is why we DO NOT recommend them.
  • Windows 2003 is compatible, but not required.
  • The server can be used as a workstation, but is not recommended for greater than 5 workstations. 5 workstations or more requires Server OS software on the server
  • Not using 100BaseT with Cat 5 (or Cat 6) Networks has proven to cause data corruption and slow network performance. Cat 6 cabling is now available and should be considered for new installations
  • Older dot matrix printers (E.g. Okidata Microline series) may not work with Windows versions after Windows 98SE
